The case of Irina Khalip will be heard in the Zavodskii (Factory) District Court of Minsk

The case of Irina Khalip, the wife of the leader of the civil campaign "European Belarus", the presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, has been passed to the Minsk City Court, Zavodskii (Factory) District. Together with Irina in the case are co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, Pavel Severinets, and the head of the electoral headquarters of candidate Nikolai Statkevich, Sergei Martselev.

“The case has only been sent to the court. A date has not yet fixed; a judge has not appointed,” it has been reported to “Interfax-West”, in the court of Zavodskii District.

Irina Khalip, Sergei Martselev and Pavel Severinets are charged under Part 1, Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus – “participation in activities or organization of actions violating public order. ” Pavel Severinets and Sergei Martselau are in custody, Irina Khalip is under house arrest.

Earlier Irina Khalip, Sergei Martselev and Pavel Severinets were charged with “rioting” (Article 293 of the Criminal Code of Belarus), which has provision for a punishment of imprisonment for a period of up to 15 years. The presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov (the husband of Irina) is also charged under the same article, along with Nikolai Statkevich and Dmitrii Uss.
