Activist of “European Belarus” arrested for national flag on New Year’s Eve

Marta Maiseenka, activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, was to have trial in the Tsentralny district court of Minsk on December 31.

The girl was detained at night December 30 and had to spend the night in a militia station, Radio Svaboda reports.

Marta Maiseenka and her friends were waiting for the trial to begin for 2 hours since 9 in the morning. But witnesses for militia didn’t appear in court. So, the trial was postponed till January 12. It was known in the court that Marta had been detained when she was trying to hang a national white-red-white flag on a decorated fur-tree at October square. It was a ground to draw up a report. Student Marta Maiseenka was released before the trial.
