Activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Yauhen Afnahel was sentenced in is absence to 7 days of arrest by the Pershamaiski district court. The activist has received a copy of the decision of court by post today.
Young leaders tried in absentia day before Putin’s visit to Minsk
Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Pavel Yukhnevich and Yauhen Afnahel has been tried in absentia and sentenced to 7 days of arrest for participation in the official rally on May Day. As we have informed, such verdicts have been delivered in the court of Pershamajski district of Minsk to leaders of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich and Artur Finkevich.

Militia couldn’t remove national flags from electric wires
National flags continue to appear above buildings of the Belarusian capital. On 16 May activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” hung out national white-red-white flags in city districts Malinauka, Paudnyovy Zakhad and Zyalyony Luh.
Riot militia against action of solidarity with political prisoners in Minsk
Riot militia officers forced participants of the solidarity action out of October Square in Minsk on 16 May. People came to the square demanding to release political prisoners.
Andrei Sannikov: “Looks like Lukashenka doesn’t hope to endure to the end of this year”
“It is strange that three years before the presidential election Lukashenka is speaking about some further new terms. It looks like he does not expect to endure till the end of this year at least,” told the international coordinator of the Cahrter’97 Andrei Sannikov, a member of the organizing committee of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, commenting on statements of Lukashenka to run for another presidential term.
